Strategic outlook meets frontline action
Since he began working in hospitality aged 23, Javier has gathered many years of multifaceted experience, from beach resorts in the Canary Islands to congress hotels in Madrid. Following his most recent experience managing 150 apartments, he was looking for a new path. When he learned about B&B HOTELS’ model and vision, it seemed like the ideal next step – and challenge.
“This kind of approach is unique in Spain. As a Mandate Manager, you have the freedom to be your own boss and make key decisions. You don’t just follow instructions. But at the same time, you have the support of big company when you need it, from IT to accounting.”
Javier enjoys balancing operational and strategic responsibilities. He is at the hotels every day, talking to the teams and greeting guests at breakfast. But he always has an eye on the long-term strategy, from staffing to revenue. On signing his first hotel, he was already thinking about the second one. Why stop there? With the right team moving in the same direction, for him, the model can be rolled out smoothly and efficiently almost anywhere.
“I opened the second hotel the day before the devastating flooding in Valencia in October 2024. I will never forget the support from B&B HOTELS. We received messages from headquarters and the CEO visited to make sure we were all doing well. This made me feel part of something bigger, far beyond a classic ‘supplier’ relationship. We’re more of a community.”
