“Since leaving university, I’ve tallied up more than 30 years of experience in all kinds of hotels, from private equity brands to family-owned businesses. In my most recent role as Head of Hotels for a private equity company, I also dived into the investment and acquisition side. When B&B HOTELS reached out to discuss developing in the very mature UK market, I saw this as a unique opportunity to launch a tremendous brand with deep roots and a powerful growth story. I can never resist a challenge!
And the first two years have more than lived up to these expectations. In some ways, it’s like launching a startup, but with the strong foundations, values and business model of an international group anchored in the hotel sector. As an autonomous B&B HOTELS market, we’ve built up a dedicated team, enticed investors and signed our first hotels. Attending my first Group conference was incredible. In my whole career, I’ve never seen so much enthusiasm and engagement. Everyone is 100% onboard.
The UK is a massive opportunity for a midscale brand like ours to shake things up for guests. Guests get a high-quality experience (a great bed, bathroom and breakfast) combined with value for money and a strong CSR focus too. We’re excited about refurbishing our current properties to fit their location and meet B&B HOTELS’ high standards – while also acquiring new ones – so we can deliver on the promises we’ve made.
