Driving the hospitality industry’s ecological transition
How did Luniwave come about, and what’s the concept behind it?
Luniwave was born from a desire to raise environmental awareness through positive reinforcement, using behavioural science. We wanted to support the ecological transition of the hospitality sector, an industry with a significant environmental impact, by offering something that’s both distinctive and beneficial to the guest experience. Our solution invites travellers to set a water consumption goal before their shower. Once finished, they receive a personalized summary. For every litre saved, a donation is made to an NGO supporting communities in need.
How did the collaboration with B&B HOTELS begin?
We met in 2023, shortly after Luniwave launched. B&B HOTELS became our first major client. The Group had a plan to pilot “green rooms”, and we installed our system in 25 rooms across five hotels. That initial rollout helped us refine the experience before expanding to two more locations, and then into the first B&B HOME. Today, our system is installed in every B&B HOME and in eight B&B HOTELS. The early results are promising, with a 45% reduction in water use and a 95% guest satisfaction rate.
What’s next for your partnership with the Group?
We’re aiming to equip more hotels within the Group and help B&B HOTELS amplify its sustainability messaging, encouraging guests to engage more directly with its CSR efforts. This isn’t just a commercial partnership. We’re co-creating, innovating together.
